In today's lecture, we are going to better understand different forest disturbances. Mainly, well look at fire disturbances. The severity and frequency of these disturbances are highly dependent on biotic and abiotic factors. Disturbance severity and frequency thus have strong selective power, as species assemblages follow specific patterns given enough time. We will look at these patterns and hopefully be able to better understand forest ecology from the perspective of the forest floor.
